Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of verification you can enable on your Digital Surge account, which significantly increases your account security.
When 2FA is enabled, you will be requested to provide an authentication code to verify requests such as signing in to your account, completing AUD withdrawals, or sending crypto. This code is retrieved from your Authenticator app, which we will show you how to set it up below.
How to set up 2FA?
In order to enable two-factor authentication, go to your Profile page on your Digital Surge account and switch it on, a pop-up will then appear with 4 steps you will need to complete.
You will need to download and install one of the Authenticator apps on your smartphone such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or LastPass. Once complete press next, and an SMS will be sent to your mobile device, enter the SMS code in the boxes provided and press verify.
Now you need to set up your Authenticator app with Digital Surge. Open the Authenticator App and press "get started" or follow the prompts to add Digital Surge.

You can add Digital Surge to your Authenticator app in two ways:
Scan the QR code using your mobile's camera if you are completing the steps on your desktop or
Enter the setup key/code that is provided to you from Digital Surge manually into your authenticator app (The Account name field can be set as Digital Surge).
Once you have set up Digital Surge in your Authenticator app, you should see a 6-digit code for Digital Surge that is generated every 30 seconds. Press next after you can confirm this has been completed.
Record and store your backup key somewhere safe. It is recommended to store it offline. This backup key is used in an event you lose access to your device or your Digital Surge Authenticator Code.
The last step is to confirm the Authenticator Code on your Digital Surge account. Open your Authenticator app and copy the 6-digit code for Digital Surge, then enter it into the boxes provided on Digital Surge.
Great! Now you've successfully set up Two-factor Authentication on your Digital Surge account.
I am receiving an "Invalid TOTP" message, what can I do?
There could be many reasons why you are getting this message. One reason could be you are using a code that is incorrect or is not currently linked to your Digital Surge account.
Two-factor authentication is time-based so another reason is that the time setting on your phone is not set to automatic, or are slightly off. If the time on your device is not synced correctly it will generate invalid codes. Here are the steps to ensure the time is set correctly. You may need to restart your device afterward to ensure it is correct.
Open the Settings app.
Tap Date & Time.
Toggle Set Automatically on. If Set Automatically is already on, toggle it off, wait a few seconds, and toggle it back on to reset
Open the Settings app.
Tap Date & time. Depending on your device, Date & time could be located under Additional settings or System
Toggle Automatic date & time on. If Automatic date & time is already on, toggle it off, wait a few seconds, and toggle it back on to reset
What Authenticator App can I use?
You can use any authenticator app that supports Time-based One-time Passwords. The Authenticator apps you can use include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, LastPass Authenticator, or many others. They all essentially do the same thing.
I lost access to my phone or authenticator code, how do I get back into my account?
You can use your backup key to generate another code in your Authenticator app.
