Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Digital Surge account. When enabled, you must enter a code from your authenticator app to complete key actions such as signing in, making AUD withdrawals or sending crypto.
How to set up 2FA
To enable 2FA, go to your Profile page and turn on the two-factor authentication option. A pop-up window will guide you through the setup process.
After reading the information, select Start to begin.
Step 1: Download an authenticator app
Install an authenticator app on your phone. Any app that supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) will work, including Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or LastPass Authenticator.
Step 2: Verify your phone number
Click Send code, and an SMS will be sent to your mobile number. Enter the code in the field provided and select Generate.
Step 3: Link your authenticator app
Open your authenticator app and add Digital Surge by either:
Scanning the QR code shown on your screen (recommended when setting up on a desktop), or
Entering the setup key manually into your app. You can name the account “Digital Surge” for easy reference.
Once linked, your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code for Digital Surge that refreshes every 30 seconds. Select Next to continue.
Step 4: Save your backup key
Write down or securely store your backup key offline. This key allows you to recover your 2FA setup if you lose access to your phone or authenticator app.
Step 5: Confirm your authenticator code
Open your authenticator app, find the current 6-digit code for Digital Surge and enter it into the verification field.
Once the code is accepted, 2FA will be enabled on your account. You will receive a confirmation message.
FAQs
Why am I getting an invalid code message during setup?
This means the code you entered does not match what is expected. Try the following:
Enter the code promptly before it refreshes (codes change every 30 seconds).
Check that your authenticator app is correctly linked. If not, delete the Digital Surge entry in your app and restart setup from Step 1.
Make sure you complete the entire setup process in one uninterrupted attempt.
What authenticator apps can I use?
Any TOTP-compatible authenticator app will work. Popular choices include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy and LastPass Authenticator.
Why am I receiving an “Invalid TOTP” message?
This can happen if:
The code in your app is not linked to your Digital Surge account.
The code was entered incorrectly or after it expired.
Your device time is not synced correctly.
To sync your device time:
iOS:
Settings > General > Date and Time > enable Set Automatically. If already enabled, toggle it off and on again.
Android:
Settings > Date and Time (location may vary) > enable Automatic Date and Time. Toggle off and on if already enabled.
Restart your device to apply the changes.
