Setting up your SMSF account on Digital Surge is a simple process designed to get you trading fast.

Before you begin verifying your Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) account, make sure you have the following documents and details ready:

What You'll Need

  • SMSF Name, ABN and Registered SMSF Address

  • Full SMSF Trust Deed (typically around 60 pages, showing Trustees and Members)

  • Trustee information, including:

    • Valid photo ID (passport or driver’s licence)

  • ASIC Company Extract (only if you have a Corporate Trustee)

Step 1: Create Your Account

  • Head to the Sign-Up page.

  • Enter your email address and password.

  • Click ‘Create Your Account’.

Step 2: Confirm Your Email

  • Navigate to your Dashboard (your account homepage).

  • Confirm your email address by clicking the verification link sent to your email.

Step 3: Select Account Type

  • On your dashboard, select the account type you wish to set up.

  • Choose ‘SMSF’ as your account type.

  • You will then be prompted to verify your mobile number.

Step 4: Gather Required Documents

A pop-up screen will display the documents you need for SMSF verification. Ensure you have all the necessary documents before proceeding.

Step 5: Provide SMSF Details

  • Enter your SMSF Name and ABN.

  • Add the registered address

  • Upload a copy of your full SMSF Trust Deed.

    • Note: The Trust Deed is typically around 60 pages and must show the Trustees and Members of the SMSF.

Step 6: Verify Trustee Information

  1. For Individual Trustees

    • Enter the trustee’s full name as listed in the Trust Deed.

  2. For Corporate Trustees

    • Enter the business name and ACN/ABN of the corporate trustee.

    • Upload an ASIC Company Extract for the corporate trustee.

      • Tip: If you don’t have an ASIC extract, you can purchase one for $10 by searching for your ABN/ACN under 'Organisation and Business Names' on the ASIC website. The extract will be sent to your email as a PDF file.

Step 7: Add Members

  • Add all SMSF trustees and members.

  • If you need to add more members, select ‘Add Member’.

  • Once all members have been added, click ‘Finish’ to complete your verification process.

Step 8: Confirmation Screen

  • You’ll see a confirmation message indicating that your application has been submitted.

What Happens Next?

  • SMSF account approvals are usually completed within 24 hours.

  • You’ll receive a confirmation email once verified.

  • After verification, you can begin trading, depositing, and withdrawing.

  • All SMSF accounts will have access to account statements and full transaction history, which you can provide to your accountant or SMSF provider to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
