From time to time, cryptocurrency projects introduce changes to their token or network. These project-led updates can include rebranding or redenominations.

Digital Surge aims to support these transitions wherever possible while ensuring the process is handled accurately and efficiently.

What are common types of token changes?

Token rebranding

A project may update its name, logo or overall brand identity. The token’s function may remain the same, but the project changes how it presents itself.

Redenomination or token split

A project may adjust the number of tokens in circulation by changing the ratio between old and new tokens. For example, a 1 to 100 redenomination converts one old token into one hundred new tokens.

How updates about token changes are provided

Digital Surge is notified of token changes through our trusted liquidity partners and wallet providers, who inform us when an update, rebranding or redenomination is being implemented for an asset they support.

The timing and level of detail provided depend on when these partners receive information from the project team. Because of this, updates can occasionally be communicated at short notice.

Holders are encouraged to follow official updates from the projects behind the assets they hold, as this can help them stay informed about upcoming changes or developments.

We aim to provide notice to impacted holders whenever possible. However, there may be situations where no advance notification can be given due to how and when the update is communicated to us.

What customers can expect

When a supported token change occurs:

  1. Digital Surge will notify impacted holders whenever possible. However, there may be cases where no prior notification is available due to the timing of information received.

  2. Trading, deposits and withdrawals for the affected asset will be disabled while the transition is completed. This is a standard part of applying technical updates.

  3. Once the change has been completed, Digital Surge will communicate the update to holders and re-enable trading, deposits and withdrawals for the asset.
